This experiment was conducted to select the optimal mulching material in peach orchard. Mulching materials used were black polypropylene, rice straw, and thermal blanket and these were mulched both sides under the peach trees. Coverage rate of weeds showed 0% in black polypropylene, 17% in thermal blanket, and 20.3% in rice straw during growing season in peach orchard. Soil moisture remained high in black polypropylene mulching orchard. Soil temperature was lower in rice straw until the end of May, but not different firm the first of June to harvest date by 3 mulching materials. No difference in fruit development by 3 mulching materials was observed. However, shoot growth was the highest in black polypropylene during the growing season. Occurrence of phytophthora fruit rot appeared 11% in black polypropylene and 74% in clean cultivation mulching in Cheonhong peach.
